From Kikaua Beach you can walk north to the scalloped, palm-fringed coves of Kukio Bay, officially part of the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. There the sand is soft, the swimming is good (even for kids) and there's a paved trail leading north along the rocky coastline to another beach. Facilities include restrooms, outdoor showers and drinking water.
To drive here, turn onto Kaʻupulehu Rd (unsigned) between mile markers 86 and 87 on Hwy 19. Drive straight ahead to the Four Seasons security guardhouse and request a beach parking pass. The 50-car beach parking lot almost never fills up.
