Tucked away west of the interstate, this Pueblo is famed for its arts and crafts, particularly ceremonial bass drums and storyteller dolls. Come in summer and you should find stands and shops in action around the plaza and 1628 mission church; public dances are held on the Feast Day of San Buenaventura (July 14) and various other occasions. A colossal earthen dam north of the Pueblo bottles the waters of the Rio Grande into Cochiti Lake, favored by swimmers and boaters (no motors allowed), and there's also a challenging golf course nearby.
