The grandest of Back Bay's grand boulevards is Commonwealth Ave (more commonly Comm Ave). Boston's Champs Élysées, the dual-carriageway connects the Public Garden with the Back Bay Fens, a green link in Olmsted's Emerald Necklace. The grassy mall is dotted with grand elms and lined with stately brownstones.
The eclectic array of public art honors – among others – a Civil War hero, a First Lady, an abolitionist, a suffragist, a maritime historian, an Argentinian statesman and a Viking explorer.
