Built in 1903 to link Williamsburg and the Lower East Side, this steel-frame suspension bridge helped transform the area into a teeming industrial center. Its foot- and bike-paths offer excellent views of Manhattan and the East River. Bonus: unlike the more attractive Brooklyn Bridge, which is capped by less-than-interesting civic center zones, the Williamsburg connects two neighborhoods with plenty of bars and restaurants, offering the possibility of refreshments on both ends.
