At 8803ft, Point Imperial is an easy drive away and the highest overlook on either of the rims. Expansive views of the canyon’s eastern half and the desert beyond include Nankoweap Creek, the Vermilion Cliffs, the Painted Desert and the Little Colorado River. An interpretive sign identifies the sights and geologic formations. There are no stops along the road to Point Imperial. From the Grand Canyon Lodge, the point is a 20 minute, 11-mile one-way drive.
