Q: Describe your favorite neighborhood in NYC in one sentence.
Anthony S.: Being a native New Yorker, I’ve seen that the West Village can be a good place for some good old-fashioned teenage debauchery as well as an accommodating place for a more mellow adulthood.
Q: Restaurant recommendation?
AS: Mamoun’s Falafel (119 Macdougal St, New York, NY 10012).
Q: Favorite bar?
AS: Art Bar (52 8th Ave, New York, NY 10014).
Q: Preferred place to relax and read a book?
AS: The Gardens at St. Luke in the Fields.
Dave T., lead singer of the band The Sweet Things , loves the Lower East Side. Here are his recommendations.
Q: Describe your favorite neighborhood in NYC in one sentence.
Dave T.: The Lower East Side is still a little dirty, full of good venues, bars, and nightlife, and compared to the rest of Manhattan it is being consumed by organic fusion tapas bistros and corporate chain stores at a relatively slow pace.
Q: Restaurant recommendation?
DT: An Choi.
Q: Favorite bar?
DT:The Mercury Lounge.
Q: Preferred place to relax and read a book?
DT: Welcome to the Johnson’s. Good music playing! $2 beers! Gross couches to recline on! (I do most my reading at bars instead of coffee shops.)

Q: Describe your favorite neighborhood in NYC in one sentence.
Poorva N.: My favorite neighborhood is FiDi. Strange attachment, I know, but I love the quiet during the nights and love that I can separate my party from my home.
Q: Restaurant recommendation?
PN: South Street Seaport is the perfect place to get good food and lobster rolls, especially in the summer.
Q: Favorite bar?
PN: Beaubourg. It’s a great place to get drinks!
Science teacher Elizabeth B. explains why Inwood is tough to beat.
Q: Describe your favorite neighborhood in NYC in one sentence.
Elizabeth B.: I love Inwood because it is a nice, quiet neighborhood with parks and trees and even caves.
Q: Restaurant recommendation?
EB: Indian Road Cafe. Yummy food, often a piano player, and I think furniture from the Sopranos.
Q: Favorite bar?
EB: People who like clubs might go to 809. I have more fun at Inwood Local or Tryon Public House.
Q: Preferred place to relax and read a book?
EB: So many! I choose to go by the Columbia football field where there are picnic tables and a nice dock area. There’s even a good deli close by.
