Heading west along 1st Ave, you’ll find half a dozen old log cabins and several historic buildings, including St Matthew’s Episcopal Church , a beautiful log structure built in 1905 and rebuilt in 1948 after a fire. Immaculate Conception Church , just across the Chena River Bridge from Golden Heart Plaza, was built in 1904 and moved to its present location in 1911. It’s a national historic monument and features beautiful painted-glass windows.
