As you drive east, make sure to keep your eyes toward the ocean. At the highest point, you should spot a templelike mound of rocks. The rocks surround a statue of Jizō, who is a Japanese Buddhist deity and a guardian of fishers. The fishing shrine is often decked out in flower lei and surrounded by sake cups. There is a little roadside pull-off in front of the shrine, about half-mile east of the Lanaʻi Lookout.
