Bordering Charlestown Pond, this 1,711-acre coastal lagoon is bounded by barrier beaches and fed by freshwater springs, that make for delightful freshwater swimming. A 2.5 mile beach (also known as East Beach) fronts the ocean and the park offers fishing (striped bass, flounder, bluefish and tautog), a 10-speed bicycle course and well-marked walking trails, while the landside Refuge shelters deer and birds.
