This beautiful state park was hit hard by the 2011 wildfires, which affected 96% of its nearly 6000 acres of forest. Fortunately, they were able to save the historic cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the 1930s, and the hiking, swimming and golfing continues. The scenic 12-mile drive through the park on Park Road 1C will let you glimpse both the destruction and the regrowth.
