The park is at the end of TX 217, 12 miles east of Canyon and 24 miles southeast of Amarillo. The best time to visit is in the fall or winter because it gets dang hot here in the summertime (carry lots of water!). A small but pretty 1934 visitors center overlooks the canyon, has interpretive exhibits on the area’s geology and history, the region’s best bookstore and good tourist info.
