Near the waterfront, this voluminous modern exhibition hall illuminates Monterey’s salty past, from early Spanish explorers to the roller-coaster–like rise and fall of the local sardine industry that brought Cannery Row to life in the mid-20th century. Highlights include a ship-in-a-bottle collection and the historic Fresnel lens from Point Sur's lighthouse.
