This historic tiny Catholic church (built in 1929 and also known as 'Painted Church') is noted for its trompe l'oeil murals that create an illusion of depth and expansiveness. Its first priest was Father Damien, legendary for his work on Molokaʻi with people suffering from leprosy. Originally in Kalapana, it's now off Hwy 130 at the 20-mile marker.
