Surf's up at Kawa Bay, reached via a dirt road (stay straight, rather than taking any lefts) between mile markers 58 and 59 off Hwy 11. Nicknamed Windmills, this is Kaʻu's best surf break – paddle out from the beach's northernmost end. Locals also come here to picnic and fish; always respect their space.
