The paved park road (subject to periodic closures) heads a mile beyond the Kalalau Lookout before it dead-ends at a parking lot. The views of Kalalau Valley are similarly spectacular to those at Kalalau Lookout, but usually less crowded. Puʻu o Kila is also the trailhead for the Pihea Trail.
