Way back in the day, this beach was a canoe-landing site for interisland travelers. In the late ‘60s it was used as the backdrop for the movie Hawaii, which starred Julie Andrews. Today there is little here beyond a nice, gated stretch of sand and trees opposite the Makua Military Reservation.
