The Verde Valley Wine Trail travels from the banks of Oak Creek in Page Springs to the mountainside town of Jerome. En route you’ll discover an astonishing number of varietals, including charbono, Grenache, marsanne, merlot, mourvedre, petite sirah, pinot noir, sauvignon blanc, tempranillo, viognier, and zinfandel. Though the landscape is arid, many vineyards retain pioneering water rights granting them access to Oak Creek, the Verde River, or deep underground aquifers. Harvests run between late August and the end of September, but any time of year, you can stop by a tasting room to sample a flight for $5–10.
