The College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS) offers semester and summer programs based out of San Ignacio in Cayo together with Galen University. Programs include anthropology, archaeology, business administration, environmental science, economics, international business, marketing, and accounting. With the exception of accounting, these courses are dual credits and degrees with the University of Indianapolis. Students can focus on anthropology and archaeology for a semester with several visits to nearby excavated ancient Maya ruins, or on environmental science with easy access to Belize’s barrier reef, cayes, rivers, and rainforests. The Environmental Learning Institute offers summer programs covering field biology, field geology, and environmental studies and sciences of Belize tropical coastal ecosystems. The Institute for Sustainable International Studies (ISIS) offers winter and summer programs, and custom programs for sustainable and experiential learning in Belize. Courses include anthropology, animal science, environmental science, community development, sustainable development, marine biology/watershed ecology, and international business.Northern Illinois University offers summer health studies in Belize focusing on the healthcare system in Belize, health sciences with University of Belize, alternative healthcare, international health, and health issues in a tropical climate.
American Universities International Programs (AUIP) offers a cross-section of summer programs focusing on several fields, including tourism, agriculture, anthropology, biology, culture, geography, international studies, and social sciences. ProWorld in partnership with Ohio Dominican University offers a 10-day program in San Ignacio and along the coast. The program covers tropical biology and political and cultural issues, as well as sustainable development projects.
The University of Mississippi Archaeological Field School offers a summer program based out of Belmopan. Miami University has a summer program open to majors focusing on Maya culture and covering the subjects of anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art history, education, history, humanities, and sociology.
Toucan Education Programs Limited (TEP) offers service learning placements based out of San Ignacio in Cayo. Programs range from a semester to a year and areas covered include education, health, conservation, community development, and social services.
The Environmental Learning Institute offers summer programs covering field biology, field geology, and environmental studies and sciences of Belize tropical coastal ecosystems. The Western Michigan University offers a summer course in tropical biology based out of Cayo. The Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) offers summer programs on biology and health science based out of Cayo, with research at coastal sites.
