In this narrow part of the gorge, water surges at 30 miles per hour, slamming against giant rocks along the riverbed, creating constant waves ranging 9-15 feet high. This raging white water is the backdrop for a scene in the film
Superman II, in which Lois Lane is saved by quick-thinking Clark Kent.
Stroll at your own pace on the White Water Walk, pausing to read the informative signs. The walkway is raised, providing a safe, child-friendly, and dry way to see the rapids. The boardwalk is wheelchair-accessible; however, two attached viewing platforms require the use of stairs. Most visitors complete the walk in 30 minutes, but photographers and others fascinated by the roar of white water could easily spend an hour here. This attraction is a WEGO stop (green line, White Water), but also allows free curbside parking along Niagara Parkway.
