The heart of Vancouver's 2010 Olympic Games hosting duties, this handsome waterfront public space is the permanent home of the tripod-like Olympic Cauldron. The flame is lit for special occasions (you can pay $5000 to have it switched on). The plaza offers great views of the mountain-backed Burrard Inlet, and you can follow the shoreline walking trail around the Convention Center West Building for public artworks and historic plaques.
If you fancy a further taste of the 2010 Games, nip along the subterranean pedestrian tunnel between the two convention buildings. You'll find a small display of medals, Olympic torches and even a podium from the event, where you can pretend you won the skeleton event gold.
