Steeped in history, Partridge Island is the most popular shoreline to search for gems, semiprecious stones and fossils. Connected to the mainland by an isthmus, the island is 4km south of town on Whitehall Rd. From the end of the beach, a 3km hiking trail with explanatory panels climbs to the top of the island for superb views of Cape Blomidon and Cape Split.
