Covehead Lighthouse

It might be just 224 km long, but the dramatically sculpted coastline of Prince Edward Island is dotted with dozens of lighthouses, casting a dazzling lightshow over the seafront after dusk. While it’s one of the smallest, at just 8.2 meters tall, the Covehead Lighthouse is also among the most photographed of all the island’s lighthouses, perched on a grassy hilltop above the sweeping red sands of Covehead Bay.
The striking red and white tower was first built in 1967, with the present-day lighthouse dating back to 1975, and although it’s not possible to enter the lighthouse, Covehead’s enviable setting still offers breathtaking views along the coast of the Prince Edward Island National Park.
