How far will you go for a fresh cup of coffee? The Just Us! coffeehouse and roastery in Grand Pré is about an hour from Halifax in the Annapolis Valley. Not only is the coffee organic and fair trade, but the milk is local, the syrups and flavors are natural, and the hand-rolled bagels and chocolates are made on-site. There's also a small museum that illustrates the history of the fair-trade movement and the journey from bean to cup. A stroll through the garden might inspire you to visit the café's other project: the Centre for Small Farms. There are other Just Us! coffee shops around Nova Scotia, including on Halifax's Spring Garden Road, but the roastery gives you the big picture on sustainable coffee.
