The Bright Lights of Edmonton

For some, neon signs are an eyesore. For others, they're artifacts with cultural value. The city of Edmonton collected a dozen historic neon signs, restored them to their former glory, and installed them on 104 Street NW. They represent different eras in the history of Edmonton and Canada, from the city's first neon sign erected by Darling's Drug Store in 1928 to the 1961 X-L Furniture sign. Several are iconic to Albertans and emblematic of changing tastes and industries.
