Local ice cream shops are scattered around the city, but this one is my favorite. While downtown shops garner huge lines of tourists, some more worthwhile than others), Rain or Shine Ice Cream is located in an area of town that caters more to the local crowd.
Just outside of the downtown core, West 4th Avenue in the Kitsilano neighborhood is a fun place to spend a few hours. Between the record stores, restaurants, and clothing boutiques, you'll find Rain or Shine Ice Cream. This place has a few "keeper" flavours that stay all year (honey lavender and salted caramel are my faves), but their "seasonal flings" are always worth tasting. Their brown butter snickerdoodle flavor has been a big hit this summer.
They've developed a following because of their ice cream flights (four small scoops served like a beer flight) and their taco Tuesdays (waffle cone shaped like a taco). Skip the lines at some other stores and head here for a more local-only experience.
