Kamloops Heritage Railway
Across the train tracks from downtown, the Kamloops Heritage Railway runs steam-engine-powered excursions, although at the time of writing it was shut for maintenance.

Whale Interpretive Centre
Stop here before taking a whale-watching tour from the adjacent wharf. Park entrance permits are for sale, and internet access is available at the C@P site downstairs.

Daily summer programs introduce children to Gus the toad and demonstrate the cooking of bugs. Exhibits on history and the natural world will keep parents engaged, too.

Guardian Trust Building
One of several grand buildings along Rue St-Jacques, the 1902 Guardian Trust Building has helmeted women guarding the entrance while lions and mermaids watch over on the 2nd floor.

Heading west from Sault Ste-Marie on Hwy 17 for about 40km, look for a left-hand turn to a poorly signposted Harmony Beach Road, to reach this popular summer swimming spot.

Hank Snow Home Town Museum
This museum sheds light on Nova Scotias status as a northern Nashville. In the old train station, it captures the history of Snow, Wilf Carter and other crooners and yodelers.

Petite Chapelle
Built in 1747 by the Jesuits, Petite Chapelle is one of North Americas oldest wooden churches. Also known as the Indian Chapel, it contains a small exhibition on missionary life.

Courtenay & District Museum & Palaeontology Centre
