The sapos (toads) are old Maya stone carvings, set in a location with a beautiful view over the town. The site is connected with Maya fertility rites. You can get there on horseback in about half an hour, or walk it in about an hour, all uphill. From Los Sapos you can walk to Stela 10 – if you plan on doing that, stop by Café ViaVia for a free map, as the trail is not well marked.
Los Sapos is on the grounds of Hacienda San Lucas , a century-old farmhouse that has been converted into a B&B and restaurant. There are walking trails here, too.
