The Fuerte de San Diego is home to this excellent museum, which offers interesting displays (Spanish and English) comprehensively covering Acapulco's days as in important port for the trade route to the Philippines. There's good information on the galleons themselves and their cargo as well as piracy. The city's indigenous and later history is also covered, including the wars of independence when the fort was taken from the Spaniards after a 6-month siege under the command of the warrior-priest Morelos.
