Cacaluta is 1km long and protected by an island, though there can be undertow. Snorkeling is best around the island. There are no services at the beach. Lancha (motorboat) is one way to get here; you can also walk by the Sendero Zanate , a interpretative trail of about 2km passing two lagoons with birdlife.
The start of the trail is about 700m along the 'Cacaluta' road off the road to Bahía Maguey. It's within the national park so you should go with a guide from agencies such as Huatulco Salvaje .
