Copalita Ruins
Evidence of human life in these historic ruins just outside La Crucecita near the Copalita River dates back more than 2,000 years. Remnants of pyramids, ball courts and homes dot the lush landscape of this well-forested site, which also includes a massive stone believed to have once been used in sacrifices.
But travelers who arrive at the Copalita Ruins will see more than just historical remains. Some 60 different species of animals and a wide variety of indigenous birds make this spot a haven for wildlife lovers. Visitors can also wander the museum and ecological pathways, look out over ocean waves or hike around the boardwalks, staircases and wooded trails that make up this spectacular site. Practical Info
