Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana)
Looming over the southern end of Monterrey’s sprawling Macroplaza, the Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana) is not only the city’s spiritual center, but one of its most prominent landmarks.
Although construction started in 1626, the cathedral took over 100 years to build and blends a number of different architectural styles, including an ornate Baroque façade and a striking neo-classical bell tower. The interiors are equally impressive, adorned with elaborate murals and a fine collection of religious art and sculptures.
Practical Info
