The newish church, with its teal beams and vaulted ceiling, is located on the inland road in the southern end of town.
Take the path opposite the church due west and after 30 minutes you will reach Paisaje de Awas , a humble Miskito fishing community that welcomes guests with open arms. You can also ride a bike, provided the road isn’t too muddy. Green Lodge Guesthouse rents bikes for US$1 per hour.
