The crossroads in the middle of town is the Four Corners of Ross, potentially leading your soul in one of four directions: temptation (represented by the Man O’Ross Hotel), salvation (the Catholic Church), re-creation (the town hall) or damnation (the old jail).
Other notable historic edifices include the 1832 Scotch Thistle Inn , now a private residence; the 1830 barracks , restored by the National Trust and also a private residence; the Uniting Church , dating from 1885; St John’s Anglican Church , knocked up in 1868; and the post office , opened in 1896 and still going strong.
