Near Nabowla, 22km west of Scottsdale, is the turn-off to the largest lavender farm in the southern hemisphere, producing lavender oil for the perfume industry. The purple fields in flowering season (mid-December to late January) are unforgettable. There’s also a cafe and gift shop that sells all things lavender: drawer scenters, fudge, ice cream and ‘Bobbie Bears' – lavender-stuffed toys that (inexplicably) sell by the thousands.
