On the eastern side of the Queen's Domain, these small but beguiling gardens hark back to 1818 and feature more than 6000 exotic and native plant species. Picnic on the lawns, check out the Subantarctic Plant House or grab a bite at the Botanical Restaurant , which also houses a gift shop and kiosk. Across from the main entrance is the site of the former Beaumaris Zoo , where the last captive Tasmanian tiger died in 1936.
