Just 10km west of Maroochydore lies (OK, sprouts) the 16m-high Big Pineapple, possibly the most iconic of all Queensland's Big Things. You can climb it, shop in its shadow (markets every Saturday from 6.30am to 1pm), or toot around it on a little train.
