Lake Birrabeen

Travelers may flock to the shores of popular Lake McKenzie, but those who head to Fraser Island agree that the quieter Lake Birrabeen is truly among the top spots here. Visitors can hike to the top of nearby sand dunes for spectacular ocean views, too. Fraser Island is approximately four hours from Brisbane. Several coach buses, as well as the Tilt Train and Sunlander depart from Maryborough and Hervey Bay. Lake Birrabeen is located east of Turkey Island in the southern part of Fraser Island.
