Centre of Contemporary Arts
CoCA houses the KickArts galleries of local contemporary visual art, as well as the JUTE Theatre and the End Credits Film Club . Their wonderful gift shop is full of local artworks and jewellery.

St Andrews Anglican Church
Also on High St, the 鈥榦ther鈥?St Andrews, with its soaring spire, first opened in 1837. Faulty foundations meant it had to be rebuilt from the ground up not long after, and it was rededicated in 1871.

Reef World
A small aquarium stocked with some of the Great Barrier Reef鈥檚 most colourful characters, including a giant 18-year-old groper. You can also take a dip with lemon, whaler and other nonpredatory sharks.

Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum
The famous Catalina flying boat A24-30 is on display, outside a secret communications bunker, just 16km away at Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum . Flying boats were repaired at Lake Boga during WWII.

History Room
At the northern end of town, fronted by an old petrol pump that dont pump no more, this old garage is full of photos, relics and sundry historical knick-knacks. It鈥檚 volunteer-run so hours may vary.

Blundells Cottage
East of the Captain Cook Memorial Water Jet is the stone-and-slab Blundells鈥?Cottage , built in 1860 to house workers on the surrounding estate and now a reminder of the area鈥檚 early farming history.

Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard
Enjoy the expansive views with a picnic at this hilltop cellar door. Its a sublime setting for one of the oldest vineyards (first planted in 1866) and theres an interesting historic display.

Great Southern Distillery
Limeburners Single Malt whisky is the star at this waterfront distillery, but brandy, gin, absinthe and grappe also feature. Tours include tastings and theres a cafe offering tapas and snacks.

Goldfields Museum & Visitor Centre
Goldfields memorabilia including information about former US president Herbert Hoovers days on the goldfields in Gwalia, as well as the fascinating story of Modesto Varischetti, the Entombed Miner.

Goat Square
Tanunda is flush with historic buildings, including the cottages around this square, on John St. This was the ziegenmarkt, a meeting and market place, laid out in 1842 as Tanundas original town centre.

Chinese Museum
This museum has a temple in the basement and displays of artefacts from the gold-rush era. Its Millennium Dragon bends around the building; in full flight it needs eight people just to hold up its head.

Old Wool & Grain Store Museum
In a stately National Trust building on the main street youll find relics from Beachports whaling and shipping days, rooms decked out in 1870s style, and a display on the local Buandi people.

Justice & Police Museum
Occupying the old Water Police Station (1858), this mildly unnerving museum documents the citys dark and disreputable past through old police photographs and an often macabre collection of exhibits.

National Film & Sound Archive
Set in a delightful art-deco building, this archive preserves Australian moving-picture and sound recordings. There are also temporary exhibitions, talks and film screenings in the Arc Cinema .

Red Hands Cave
Less a cave than an alcove, this Aboriginal shelter is decorated with hand stencils dating from between 500 and 1600 years ago. Its an easy, 7km return walk southwest of the Glenbrook Visitor Centre .

Thorpe Farm
Thorpe Farm produces sensational goat鈥檚-milk cheese under the Tasmanian Highland Cheese label. The farm also makes wasabi and stone-ground flour. Visits by appointment only; call ahead for directions.

Obelisk
An isolated gay and nudist beach surrounded by bushland in the Middle Head section of Sydney Harbour National Park. It loses the sun quickly in the afternoon (making it chilly for the nudists).

National Motor Museum
Behind an impressive 1852 flour mill in Birdwood (population 1130), the National Motor Museum has a collection of immaculate vintage and classic cars (check out the DeLorean!) and motorcycles.

Murray Bridge Regional Gallery
This is the towns cultural epicentre, a great little space housing touring and local exhibitions: painting, ceramics, glassware, jewellery and prints. A terrific diversion on a rainy river afternoon.

Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery
In the Civic Reserve alongside the Botanical Rose Gardens, the outstanding Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery has changing exhibitions and a permanent collection of Australian prints and paintings.
