Located 14km south of the center, near the lighthouse, is Mar del Plata’s aquarium. Animals on display include penguins, flamingos, crocodiles and lots of fish. There are sea-lion, dolphin and waterskiing shows, along with a cinema. Those concerned with the welfare of sea mammals should be aware that keeping them in enclosed tanks or swimming with them in the wild is considered by some to be disruptive to the behavior of the animals and their habitats.
You can also swim with sharks and other watery creatures and sit on the beach.
