This small bakery is a locally-owned cooperative run by an energetic woman, Cristina Mangravide, who wanted to improve the lives of La Boca’s poorest children. Home made baked goods, including alfajores – those delicious sweet cookie sandwiches Argentina is famous for – are created by troubled local teenagers and sold here to anyone who stops by. It’s a great cause – the kids are kept busy being taught skills that will hopefully aid them in the future, and you can help them while satisfying your sweet tooth.
