The award for the most unintentionally bizarre museum displays in Middle Chile goes to the Museo Antiguo Monasterio del Espíritu Santo. Mannequins in nuns' habits re-create scenes from Santa Teresa's life: she took her vows in this ex-convent then died of typhus, aged 19.
Also celebrated is folk saint and preteen rebel Laura Vicuña, who willed herself to die because her widowed mother took a married lover.
