Piribebuy is a rural town that was briefly the capital of the nation during the War of the Triple Alliance (1865–70). With Asunción captured, it became the site of a famous siege in 1869, when an army of children led by the local schoolteacher bravely held off the invading Brazilians. The remarkable events are recounted in the small museum.
Empresa Piribebuy runs 75km south from Asunción every 45 minutes from platform 35 in the subsuelo .
