About 15km past the end of Laguna de Pachucha in the municipality of Pachuca stands the imposing hilltop site of Sondor, constructed by the Chanka culture. The Chankas were traditional enemies of the Incas, but evidently shared their appreciation of a good view. Evidence suggests the top of the central pyramid in the complex (accessed by some 500 steps!) was an important sacrifice spot.
