Val d’Isre renowned as one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the Alps. Having just returned from the resort, I can see why it is so popular.
I stayed at Le Chardon Mountain Lodges in Val d’Isre; a brilliantlocation set in a truly picture postcard setting high above the main town. The transfer is long (approximately 3 hours from Geneva airport) but once you arrive all that is forgotten. You are made to feel most welcomed with cosy slippers being provided along with a glass of chilled Champagne and the most wonderful canaps.
The food is amazing – scrumptious 5 course dinners each evening along with breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea which is also included during your stay. Each lodge has breathtaking views overlooking the valleys which are all completely covered in snow! They also have the option of a ski in / ski out right from your lodge… perfect! With over 300km of marked runs and unlimited off piste skiing, the resort is ideal for skiers and snowboarders of all levels (including complete beginners such as myself!)
The centre of Val d’Isre is only a short drive or walk away and is a typical ski resort offering restaurants, bars and shops. It is a lovely, cosy resort which has retained its historic and traditional village feel.
My trip to Le Chardon was inspirational and I would definitely recommend staying there this ski season.
