American Airlines is looking to compete with airlines that already offer fully-reclining business class seating on long-haul flights by transforming their Boeing 767-300 and Boeing 777 with lie-flat seats and personal entertainment systems over the next 12 months. The new seats will recline to a 9 degree angle – a massive improvment on the 60 degree angle currently available. The entertainment systems will include a 10.6 inch screen and video on-demand. The Washington Post estimates that the makeover will cost American at least $43 million.
