India's fourth budget-airline AirAsia India is to carry out operations in the north of India, expanding its network in the country. It will commence daily back-and-forth flights from Bengaluru to Jaipur and Chandigarh from 5th September 2014.
The low cost airline will add two new routes in the north of India for its customer-oriented approach to serve every corner of the country at affordable rates. The bookings will be open soon, confirmed a top official of the company.
Earlier the low cost airline had successfully inaugurated operations connecting south and west as its first flight took off starting from Bangalore's Kempegowda International Airport to Goa.
Mittu Chandilya, Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia India said that the load factor demand is growing for the current routes, more than what was planned earlier. 'The load factor between Bangalore and Goa is 96% and Bangalore-Chennai is 85%. The Bangalore-Kochi route has a load factor of around 90%. We earlier pegged the target at 75% which was thought to be achievable', added Chandilya. He further stated that the airline is all set to enlist one more aircraft next month and then one craft every month to build its extensive fleet.
Chandilya further mentioned, "Given the size of the population in India, there is great potential to expand. We wanted to make sure that we make the right move and get our fares right at the same time. Starting flights to Jaipur and Chandigarh was a strategic decision since we wanted to accelerate our operations in North, considering the demand for our services. With the addition of new routes, we will ensure that Indians experience a brand new way to fly within the country".
Earlier the low cost airline had successfully inaugurated operations connecting south and west as its first flight took off starting from Bangalore's Kempegowda International Airport to Goa. Supporting this, the airline also revealed that it will increase of its back-and-forth operations from one daily-flight to two daily flights on its south route from Bengaluru to Goa, this also starting from 5th September.
As part of budget plan for customers, one can book flights from Bengaluru to Jaipur and Chandigarh for as low as Rs.1,999 (All-inclusive fare) and from Bengaluru to Goa at just Rs. 1,299.
"Our airlines' fares will be about 35% lower than the current market rates," stated Chandilya.
'We are in talks with another airline for a strategic tie-up for utilising the AirAsia's cargo capacity better on the Bangalore-Goa route. This will be the first of its kind in the domestic route,' he further added.
With this partnership, Goa will become like a transshipment point where AirAsia can transit cargo traffic destined to Delhi from Bangalore to Goa and from there it will be loaded to the partner airline.
Similarly the airline will join hands in this will be able to transit cargo to Goa to be flown to Bangalore. This way the cargo capacity can be better utilised, said an airline officer.
