An airline that is always looking to enhance the quality of its service and operations, Etihad Airways has made quite a few plans to make its operations better and also expand its reach as far as its flight network is concerned.
Mid September saw Etihad Airways announce that it was looking to enhance its operations in South America. The South American market has always held a lot of promise as far as trade and tourism is concerned and as more and more countries in the region seek to open their corridors to the global revolution, the potential that the market holds is being seen as quite promising by many. Etihad Airways wishes to be a catalyst in this process and also give its passengers a wider range of choice when it comes to both business as well as leisure.
Code share partnerships have been a great way for airlines to expand their reach and Etihad Airways too has had an amazing number of airlines who are on its list of airlines it has code share agreements with. The 38 airlines that are partners with the airline have helped bring in a list of almost 323 destinations to its own list of network cities and the list grows at regular intervals whenever an airline extends its own network.
In South America, the airline is in talks with various carriers in the region so that they could enter into a mutually beneficial business relationship that most of all benefits passengers. Once the talks are complete, the passengers of Etihad Airways would be able to fly with the partner carriers and obtain benefits from Etihad even while they officially fly with another airline. This also means that the number of destinations offered by Etihad Airways would also go up considerably.
Apart from the code sharing agreement that the airline is hunting for, Etihad Airways has also unveiled plans to start flying to Sao Paulo in Brazil in mid 2013. The direct flights will be in addition to seamless transfers that would be offered to passengers to all the destinations that Etihad Airways has on its list, including those in India, the Middle East, and of course Asia. Another reason for the airline to connect to Brazil is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today and an early tap into the market would mean that the airline is one of the first major players in the skies there, thus enabling it to grab a firm foothold.
Abu Dhabi and Sao Paulo, once connected through Etihad Airways flights, will open up a lot of trade and leisure opportunities for passengers in both the regions, thus bringing the two different worlds a little more close to each other.
