A growing trend in the travel industry in recent years has been the offering of hotel rooms by the hour. Whilst traditionally this might give rise to raised eyebrows, all might not be quite as it seems so don’t be too quick to judge. Dayuse Hotelshas negotiated special rates at luxury hotels around the world, allowing you to use a hotel room for a few hours during the day, and enabling hotels to maximise on revenue.
The company began in Paris back in 2010 and has since grown to becomethe leading website for booking hotels by the day. But forget romantic liaisons (although no doubt that may still form part of their business) and think more along the lines of a place to work for a few hours, a location to get some rest and freshen up between flights, somewhere for a spot of exercise between appointments or perhaps a location for a business meeting.
There are in fact a number of ‘legitimate’ reasons why someone might want a hotel room by the day, and this appears to be borne out in the growth of the company. Either that, or all these alternative use ideas are providing useful ‘cover’ for more seedy goings-on!
Dayuse now has its own app and dealswith more than 450 hotels in nine countries. And forget dodgy motels… many of those embracing this concept are nearer the luxury end of the spectrum. The Beaufort in London, the Flatiron Hotel in New York and Hotel the Gray in Milan are all examples of those participating in the scheme.
