Travel is a Waste of Money
A percentage of the global population think that travel is a waste of money. It had honestly never crossed my mind that anyone thought that way, until somebody on our Facebook page said that it had always been her belief.
Gratifyingly, she went on to say that our adventures and enthusiasm for travel

On Good Friday we were Prechristian.
Wow, what a day, what a place, what a huge amount of learning!
We are in Guatemala for Easter and it just happened that our visit to Tikal, the most incredible site in the Mayan world, fell on Good Friday.
We’ve already experienced the huge build up to Easter in Antigua Guatemala, the biggest Easte

Good Friday Procession Flores Guatemala
Good Friday, two religions in one day. Ancient Mayan traditions in a steamy sub-tropical rain forest at Tikal and an evening Catholic procession in the town of Flores.
During our month in Antigua Guatemala we saw the Sunday processions and flower carpets of the build up to Easter, the big day its

Tikal With Kids. Family Travel Blog Guatemala
The highlight of our time in Guatemala was Tikal National Park, the most incredible set of Mayan ruins in the world. But Tikal with kids, is that really going to work? Is it safe? Is it too hot, too high, too boring, too far? No way, the boys had a ball, here’s why.
Tikal with Kids. Is it Safe?

Our Cruise on Norwegian Epic. Day 2.
Hello from our Atlantic Crossing cruise on Norwegian Epic!
Epic is a beautiful ship and we’re off to a good start on our second cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines this year. I can’t check in to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram as often as I normally do because satellite internet at sea isn’t cheap a

Is Cruising for you? Reasons to Take a Cruise.
Despite spending most of my life swearing that cruising wasn’t for me, I’m a new cruise convert. We’ve taken two trans Atlantic cruises with Norwegian in the last five months and loved them both. So, for the benefit of cruise doubters, here are a selection of diverse but great reasons to take a crui

We’ve had our share of ups and downs over the last 12 months of non-stop travel. We’ve had a fantastic year, go check out our travel highlight post to see our best bits, but there have been some absolutely stinking times. Some we’ve written about and shared before, some we haven’t.
Just to prove th

Worldschooling. One Year of Travel. Homeschooling Highlights
It’s really hard to quantify learning. The knowledge the boys have acquired through our 1 year journey, 4 continents and 12 countries, is immense, quite staggering really.
Here are some of our homeschooling, or, if you prefer, worldschooling or unschooling, highlights.
I’m not talking about the pers

Dreaming of Hawaii. The Bucket List Got Longer!
So, here we are in London, loving everything the capital has to offer, but still, the dreams and the plans are with us and as strong as always. We’re slowly stashing away the travel bucks and getting ready to spend them next year, but where, where will we go next?
Deepest thanks to Suzanne of B

What Did it Cost to Travel the World for a Year?
Want to know what it cost to travel the world for a year?
I’ll just refresh your memories on where we went and what we did in our first travel year. Remember, we’re a family of four, our children are 7 and 9 and they eat more than me!
We’ve now been travelling the world for 2.5 years, these costs a

What is Forest School? Worldschooling in London
Since we arrived in London and started reaching out to the homeschooling community here, I’ve been hearing forest school popping up in conversations.
“My kids go to forest school.”
“Oh, you should try forest school!”
But what is forest school?
I really didn’t have a clue, I’d never heard of it and

Reasons to Visit London Zoo
A travel blogger friend asked me if I thought she should visit London Zoo on her trip to the UK. The short answer was yes, it’s awesome, but the long answer takes a bit more explaining.
I’m an animal nut and a scientist, my degree is in zoology and I adore zoos. When the kids were little we practic

What is Worldschooling?
Have you Heard of Worldschooling?
When we first decided that travelling with the kids would be a great lifestyle choice for our family and a phenomenal way for the boys to get an education, I invented a term “travelschooling“.
Not much further down the road I discovered that somebody had already n

Why We Don't Travel Light
We don’t travel light. We travel with 2 large backpacks, 2 small kids’ backpacks and 2 pieces of adult carry-on luggage, both containing laptops. It’s the absolute maximum we can carry, just within weight limits for planes and our bodies.
Here it all is waiting for a train from Mirissa to Colombo in

Legoland Windsor Review. Legoland England
Legoland England is at Windsor, just outside London
Legoland Windsor in England is Legoland number 3 for us. We’ve already visited Legoland Malaysia and Legoland Florida, both were great fun for the whole family so we couldn’t wait to check out the UK’s version, just outside London.

Change Your Life and Find Freedom!
We’ve been “Living the Dream” for 2 years now. We’ve been travelling full time, seeing the world and spending most of our time together as a family while hardly working, other than on the blogs. We weren’t rich, we were a very normal family struggling to make ends meet and actually classified as “l

London Science Museum is Awesome!
We’ve been to several science museums and attractions all over the world. Maybe I’m biased, but in my opinion London’s Science Museum is the best. Some, like Canberra’s Questacon, Malaysia’s Petrosains or Cardiff’s Techniquest have more of a focus on hands-on areas for children but London Science

Dinner on Key Largo
Let’s rewind 2 months to our last night in the Americas. Dinner on Key Largo was a treat for us, a farewell to Florida, a state we love on so many levels and the last night of our Canada to the Keys road trip before we boarded our cruise back to Europe.
That one meal outlived all of our expectation
