With Magna Carta celebrations in full swing in Lincoln, all eyes are on the historic city which possesses the worlds best preserved version of the document. Lying in a brand new state-of-the art vault at Lincoln Castle, the city is the only place where Magna Carta can be seen next to the 1217 Charter of the Forest.
These precious documents are no doubt the citys pride and joy and some of Lincolnshires best known food and drink producers have unveiled very special creations to mark 800 years since Magna Carta was sealed by King John.

Craft beers may be on-trend at the moment, but Batemans Brewery in the ancient market town of Wainfleet in Lincolnshire has been making beer since 1874. It is fitting then that such a historic institution has unveiled a new beer to mark the 800thanniversary of Magna Carta. Law of the Land is a rich, ruby 5.5% ABV ale which has been brewed with sweet English barley and spicy Minstrel hops.
Not only is Batemans one of the oldest breweries in the country, its also one of the most picturesque as it is set in a windmill that overlooks the River Steeping. During the summer months, tours take place twice a day and include a look at the amazing Victorian brewhouse as well as the newer version, which has earned the nickname the Theatre of Beers. Evening tours also include two half pint samples of Batemans Beer from the very well stocked bar.
